FOOD SERVICE AID (X2 POSTS)

SALARY : R138 486 per annum
CENTRE : George Regional Hospital

REQUIREMENTS : Minimum academic qualification: Basic numeracy and literacy skills. Experience: Appropriate experience in a large-scale food service unit, which includes the running of large-scale kitchen tools as well as the coaching of everyday and therapeutic diets. Inherent requirements of the job: Ability to do bodily tasks and function heavy-duty kitchen and cleansing equipment. Ability to work with cleansing materials, do high-dusting and lifting of heavy tools and supplies. Ability to be on your feet for a period of 12 hours per day. Willingness to work shifts throughout the day, weekends, public holidays and additional time if requested. Competencies (knowledge/skills): The capacity to put together meals in accordance to standardized recipes, as properly as safely and effectively handle industrial equipment. Basic information of the food carrier hygiene and protection principles. Conflict management.

DUTIES : Perform all duties emanating from the pre-preparation and manufacturing of all full and therapeutic diets. Perform all tasks emanating from the dishing, distribution and serving food to patients at a range of wards. Clean and hold all areas, utensils and gear in the meals carrier unit and maintain safety and hygiene standards. Assist with the receipt, protected storage and issuing of meals provisions and other products. Assist with the casual in-service education of new employees.
